Chateau Le Petit Barreau was built in or around 1880 by Monsieur Jean Baptiste-Alexandre Baudouin de La Compe de La Boissiere.

Monsieur de La Compe de La Boissiere was a descendant of French Nobility and was awarded the National Order of the Legion of Honor for his contribution in the Franco-Prussian War.

The grounds of Chateau Le Petit Barreau span across two towns of Le Fieu and Porchères, which are connected by crossing the Ruisseau de Courbarieu. Within Porchères you will find yourself in the private forest of La forêt de la Double .

Within The Forest of the Double   you will then find The feudal mound of the Château de Billard. This is an ancient site of fortification which typically included a wooden fortified castle surrounding by a motte of water dating back to Norman times. Typically, the mounds and mottes were dug by hand.

Château Le Petit Barreau has undergone major, and, respectful renovation since 2022 and is a true haven of peace and collaboration of nature, history and animals.

The grounds of the Chateau include swans, Champion horses and International dogs, amongst the native ducks, deer and pig.

The current owners of the Chateau were fortunate to recover ancient documents held within the original and unopened safe of Monsieur Jean Baptiste-Alexandre Baudouin de La Compe de La Boissiere. Conservation work is being undertaken to preserve the integrity of the documents and to respectfully portray the story of the generations found within the documents guarded closely by Monsieur Jean Baptiste-Alexandre Baudouin de La Compe de La Boissiere.

The grounds of Château Le Petit Barreau span over 19 hectares or 46 acres and are a treasure in itself.

It is the intention that Château Le Petit Barreau forms the ideal place for your wedding, reception or seminar.

Château Le Petit Barreau will open for expressions of interest in late 2024.
